The Restarts continue to raise the bar since their conception back in 1995 and Uprising! is a true testament to that. This album has everything that you could ever want from a thrash punk band with a HUGE message to send. The power riffs and thundering drums are intense throughout the album but it is the lead vocals that get you fuckin hooked!
Living a Lie is by far my favorite track on this album with a very mesmeric and dynamic chorus paired with the high energy throughout the song. A second pick for me would be Shut Doors which is a Restarts version of Ska. Loud, fast and hits with a perfect traditional ska rhythm composed with the same hard-hitting pace and aggressive vocals.
Here’s what the Restarts have to say about their new album…
After 14 months of writing, we are hugely excited to unleash our new 12 track album “Uprising” on Oakland’s Pirates Press Records. Our 6th studio album, but our first introducing the maniacal Jeremy bashing the skins, takes a no holds barred approach to punk rock.
Drawing upon Robin’s recent humanitarian work in Palestine we tackle hard issues like the global denial of apartheid and the plight of refugees in the Calais Jungle. Expect our usual brand of relentless thrash punk, ska anthems and back to basics old school punk.
Warning: contains pointed political critiques on gentrification, mental health, origins of homophobia, addiction and the political circus that is Brexit! This is Restarts unapologetic and defiantly angry.
These guys put their money where their mouth is; Their time, toil and devotion to empowering and improving the lives of people, locally and globally – both as a band, and as individuals in the work they do outside of the band is not to be overlooked or under-appreciated. Not to mention, their tunes and energy on stage are absolutely INCREDIBLE. Pirates Press Records is truly honored to have them join the Pirates Press Records family, and unbelievably excited to share this new album with you.
