Primary School Music Teacher Mike Woodhams’ RIDICULOUS BGT Audition
When primary school music instructor Mike Woodhams stepped onto the Britain's Got Talent 2024 stage, he gave off the charming vibe of a children's entertainer, a budding professional driven by his passion for conveying musical enthusiasm. However, once he began to sing, none of the judges could have anticipated the incredibly impressive performance about to unfold.
Mike isn't merely a vocalist—he's a musical impressionist who mimics singers from Boyzone to Anastacia with a unique, flamboyant style. As James Blunt's 2004 smash hit "You're Beautiful" started playing on the screens behind him, the celebrity judges looked puzzled. But when Mike sang perfectly in sync with the muted video, making it appear as if Blunt was lip-syncing to Mike's voice, his remarkable sound illusion sent the crowd into fits of laughter.
Mike's comedic approach, reminiscent of "Stars In Their Eyes," came complete with signature gestures and accessories that matched each music video playing behind him, from bunches of flowers to sunglasses identical to those featured in the original hit songs.
Bruno Tonioli described it as "the best vocal impressions I've heard in a very, very long time," commending Mike's vocal abilities and surprise element, while Alesha Dixon noted how effectively Mike performed female impersonations alongside male ones.
Simon Cowell appeared equally amazed and delighted, laughing throughout the act before giving Mike two thumbs up and remarking, "I'm so surprised, because you really undersold yourself. You're the kind of act I really believe could win this whole show."
Mike finished his audition with unanimous approval from all four judges and won over the entire audience—his modest talent earned praise and his audition gained over 1M YouTube views in just two weeks!
A Milton Keynes native, Mike Woodhams is 37 years old and works as a music teacher and vocal coach for students aged 7-11, instructing them in recorder, ukulele, singing and additional skills. While working across St Albans, Mike also earned an MA in vocals at The Voice Study Centre in Colchester.
Despite his professional background, Mike's supporters value his inherent gift as a family entertainer, bringing a vibrant element of fun and happiness back to music while also teaching the upcoming generation of pop stars.
Mike's audition was perfect variety show material and, based on the enormous international attention his performance has gathered in such a brief period, he will likely continue to exceed expectations in the live shows!
